I am an artist with a focus on painting and mixed-media artwork. My pieces are primarily large-scale oil paintings utilising a limited palette championing greens and blues. I create sculptural and wearable pieces that act as complimentary companions both within and alongside the paintings, and experiment with audio design within the staging of spaces. Through scale and immersive audio elements my goal is to create a panoramic environment that suspends the viewer within the works, to experience the themes as if they are living within them. My work takes a hauntological view on contemporary Ireland. I use imagery from modern and ancient Irish mythologies to examine the means in which Irish people outwardly express and experience their culture. I work figuratively, taking a dynamist perspective as a means to project an idea, a haunting, or characterisation onto a body. I look specifically at how Irish people treat the culture as a mask, both concealing and confessing to the innermost dialogues surrounding cultural life.
