'Stiff Nips' is my final year short film that follows a woman and her descent to madness. It is a short film that explores form and abstraction within the physical frame of the screen and pushes the woman to her limit. Mixing experimental and narrative production techniques allowed me to work within a pipeline that was unique to this project. I wanted to create a film that felt like the character’s stream of consciousness with a palpable energy throughout. I started the process by creating and experimenting with the character’s shape, animated movement and background texture, allowing this work to influence and inform what the final film would become. I used fragments of quotes from friends and family, alongside a few words by Sylvia Plath, in order to create a structural narrative thread for the film and it’s audience.
