I’m Oisín, a Product Design graduate from TU Dublin. At my youngest, my dream job was to be an inventor, and in many ways, product design is the modern version of that dream. I care about getting things right. My designs don’t just need to work, they need to truly click when used. I work through countless options until I reach that point - the point where it feels like only one answer makes sense - and I know to trust that. I thrive in making and testing my designs. The more I prototype, the faster things become clear, so I build, adapt, teardown, and rebuild to understand how my designs come together and what actually makes them work. I have no interest in making things that simply look good. I design things that hold up in their environment, and that people actually enjoy using, seeing every last detail through to the end. The inspiration for Reel came after watching my sister become a parent. Wanting a more present way to capture her daughter's early moments, she tried replacing her smartphone with a dedicated camera, but it quickly fell out of use, the extra effort of charging & managing another device proving too difficult to sustain. This insight was reinforced through user research, revealing that while many parents value being present, existing alternatives struggle to compete with the convenience of smartphones. That observation became the foundation of my project, exploring how memory capture could better support presence without adding friction.
