When human memory fails, what do we leave behind? In decades or centuries to come, when nobody is left to tell our story, what remains of us in our absence? I am an illustrator and a recent graduate of NCAD, and my work uses interactive gameplay and animated cutscenes to explore the ways in which our belongings and environments hold onto stories, acting as anchors for our legacy long after we are gone. Born from a frustration at the fragility of human memory, my video game 'Forget Me Not' tells a story in which the central character is nowhere to be found except through the traces left behind within their environment. Players explore the in-game setting of an abandoned laboratory, collecting information from objects found throughout the space in order to piece together the story of the person who once lived there. I am primarily driven by a love of storytelling, and my work is heavily inspired by nature, emotional expression, and human connection, with every connection sparking a new and exciting story to tell.
