Inspired by the motley crew of entirely fictional and real-but-odd-looking creatures that populate the pages of illuminated Gospel manuscripts, this exhibition, ‘Zoología Fantástica’ at the Solstice Arts Centre brings together new work by seven artists, including Peter Burns, Jane Locke and Janet Mullarney. The history of these fantastical beasts ranges from early Christian manuscripts though to medieval bestiaries, mingling folklore, legend and literature.
