The Contemporary Irish Arts Center Los Angeles (CIACLA) presents ‘The Irish Contemporaries {v}’. Deirdre Mulrooney and Gearóid O’Dea exhibit at the 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica. Mulrooney’s work draws on performance, ritual and the body to address themes of identity, displacement and trauma; while O’Dea’s practice, rooted in mark-making and observation, uses process as a way to navigate and reconstruct personal narrative. A second exhibition at the Angels Gate Cultural Center, San Pedro includes work by: Brenda Welsh, Carol Anne McChrystal, Elisabeth Banim, Jenny Cosgrave, Paul James Kearney and Sheila McMullin.
