A good print is the sum of an artist’s stamina and vision, writes NIALL NAESSENS ahead of the Graphic Studio’s print show at the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin in January 2009
The brief for ‘Artist’s Proof’ is simple. There is no theme but the participating artists, all experienced printmakers, are invited to show three prints; two working proofs and the final editioned print. The proofs will inform the spectator more about the prints and their creators by giving snapshots of the work in progress. The fact that the prints are to be shown in the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin in the context of the collection, as well as becoming part of that collection was a major incentive for the artists involved and many works were inspired by the collection
