Ogam (Modern Irish Ogham, pronounced óm) is the name given to the writing system in which the oldest sources of written Irish have come down to us

These are memorial stone inscriptions which are found throughout Ireland, but for the most part in the three southern counties of Kerry, Cork and Waterford. Kerry, with about 130 stones, one third of the total number, has the largest concentration of Ogam inscriptions and the three counties together can boast a total of five-sixths of all such inscriptions in the country
