Gavin Murphy is at the Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane as part of the ‘Sleepwalkers’ series. Murphy makes his works through an assemblage of unique fabricated elements, sourced and found objects, image and text. His current show, entitled ‘In Art We Are Poor Citizens’, continues the artist’s engagement with the history of the Hugh Lane Gallery. He now focuses on its collection, acquisitions, exhibitions and the changing role of the museum. The Dublin-based artist and curator’s recent work includes a film ‘Something New Under the Sun’ and a publication ‘Only Something Entirely New’ in collaboration with designers Atelier David Smith. Murphy is co-director of the art space, Pallas Projects/Studios.
