‘Crainn na hÉireann’, an exhibition by the Irish Society of Botanical Artists at the National Botanic Gardens, celebrates twenty-two of Ireland’s native trees. Over a period of two years, a set of paintings was made for each tree, enlarging the smallest of details and providing a new record for their identification and appreciation, as well as encouraging a renewed sense of ownership and responsibility for each one.
