Works in ‘Twist and Shout’ at the dlr LexIcon draw on Róisín Lewis’ journeys through the Irish landscape. Cycling through wildflowers and grasses and up steep hills, Lewis records herself speaking botanical names. Replayed in the studio, these are used to inspire watercolours in the shades of fuchsia, montbretia, loosestrife and meadowsweet. The artist has also used fibres from these plants
to create textiles, using traditional techniques of twisting, looping and weaving.
