In this series of paintings at the Molesworth Gallery, Francis Matthews utilises the familiar urban subjects – streets, buildings and the overlooked elements of the urban landscape. Showing a sophisticated interplay of light and shadow, these works are quiet and introspective, and form something of a love letter to the city and its neglected spaces.
