In ‘Is Was’ at the Kenny Gallery, Dean Kelly engages with the city of Galway’s streetscape through painting and photography. His work explores the tensions between past and present, using a visual language to suggest the quiet transformations of place. Contemplating the inevitability of change, Kelly captures scenes – a shopfront or street, for example – that carry traces of what has shifted over time.
