The Lyric Theatre presents ‘The Return: Alice Berger Hammerschlag and the New Gallery’, an exhibition of painting surveying the legacy of the Lyric’s New Gallery (1963–1969) and its curator, Alice Berger Hammerschlag (1917–1969). An artist and Jewish refugee from Vienna, Berger Hammerschlag brought postwar Modernism to Belfast audiences, challenging the city’s conservative art scene in the 1960s.
