MF: Tom, your sculptural work is grounded in natural materials, stone and wood, combined with a strong sense of place, while your drawings and wall works explore ideas and concepts that are more global and address the human situation through humour.
TF: Materials are very important to me. I started off using things like plastics and fi breglass but I found they did not fi t the way I thought. I did not really begin to progress until I started using the old, basic, traditional materials like stone and wood. That’s what set my imagination alight.
