Alannah Hopkin previews new work from Katherine Boucher Beug’s forthcoming show in June at Oliver Sears’ Gallery, Dublin

For the past forty years, Katherine Boucher Beug has worked in her studio beside her home, deep in the countryside in Dunderrow, Co Cork. “She is undoubtedly one of the most talented and least known artists working in Ireland today”, according to a keen collector of her work. She has had solo shows at the Crawford Gallery, the Fenton Gallery and the West Cork Arts Centre, and participated in numerous group shows. Her work is in the collections of the Arts Council, the Crawford Municipal Gallery, and UCC’s Modern Art Collection. But outside Cork, few people have heard of her. Her forthcoming Dublin show will introduce her intense, finely crafted work to a wider audience.
