Maeve McCarthy’s exhibition ‘Back in the Garden’ at The Molesworth Gallery is her fifth solo show there. This large-scale work in charcoal shows the influence of Glenageary, Co Dublin where she grew up. Childhood memories are invoked, particularly of her grandmother who shared the family house. McCarthy has exhibited nationally and internationally, including the BP Portrait Awards at the NPG, London. The artist has won several awards, including the Ireland-U.S. Council/Irish Arts Review Portrait Award. Her portrait of Maeve Binchy is in the collection of the NGI.
