Marianne O’Kane Boal previews a selection of artists participating in e v+ a, Limerick’s international open submission exhibition

Celebrating its thirtieth year, e v+ a was set up in Limerick in 1977 and since that time it has established itself as the country’s largest and most international annual exhibition of contemporary art. The intriguing and enigmatic title stands for ‘exhibition of visual+ art’. According to Paul O’Reilly Artistic Director, ‘the + sign does not stand for the word and it denotes all the other ways we perceive; art comes through all the senses not only the visual sense’.
