Sarah Browne and Gareth Kennedy have created a series of culturally relevant projects for Ireland’s participation at the 53rd Venice Biennale, writes Marianne O’Kane Boal

This year Ireland is represented at the 53rd Venice Biennale by Sarah Browne and Gareth Kennedy.
Browne and Kennedy will exhibit three projects, one by each artist and a collaborative work by the pair under the name Kennedy Browne, which is a title that enables the creators to produce work that is distinctly separate from their individual practices. In existence for over a century, the Venice Biennale remains the most important event in the contemporary art world’s calendar. Artists from eighty-five countries will participate in this year’s biennale, the greatest global representation to date. Overall curation of the Biennale is by Daniel Birnbaum and Ireland’s participation this year has been commissioned and curated by Caoimhin Corrigan. The project is funded by Culture Ireland and the Arts Council
