Catherine Bates looks at the creative translation of ideas within the work of the talented McCrory family on view at the National Craft Gallery this October

The Craft Council’s forthcoming exhibition, Silver Connections, showcases the work of three makers from the same family. Michael McCrory, a silversmith, taught at the University of Ulster for almost thirty years before retiring in 1996 to work full-time in silver. Deirdre McCrory trained in jewellery and printed textiles and has specialised in enamelling, also exploring printmaking in recent years. Cara Murphy, also a silversmith, currently teaches at the University of Ulster. The three are father, mother and daughter respectively
