Donal Sheehan’s ‘Urbis Modo’ series of photographs, recently acquired by the National Photographic Archive, holds up an important if uncomfortable mirror to our culture, writes Arran Henderson


Urbis Modo

The National Photographic Archive in Meeting House Square recently announced the acquisition of 15 photographs by Irish photographer Donal Sheehan. These works come from the ‘Urbis Modo’ series, a long-running project (and one still in progress), which has involved the artist in long all-night vigils around the streets of late night Dublin, nearly every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night over the past eleven years.
