At dawn the view from the top of Emei Shan (Mount Omei) in Sechuan Province, the holiest mountain in all of China, is a magical sight. The sun rises out of a rolling mist to illuminate the surrounding peaks. Our group had climbed up the evening before to stay the night on the summit to be there at sunrise, as we anticipated the feast of plants we were to see the next day. This part of China is rich in plants that are not only beautiful but also seem easily adaptable to our temperate Irish climate.
