Catherine Marshall welcomes Niamh O’Sullivan’s monograph on the elusive artist and daring individual Aloysius O’Kelly.
The 1996 cover of the Irish Arts Review Yearbook featured one of the most attractive of all images by an Irish artist, Aloysius O’Kelly’s Girl in a Meadow (Fig 3) and, untypically for this publication, inside it featured no less than three articles on the artist by Julian Campbell, Margarita Cappock and Homan Potterton, as well as a short commentary on a trademark O’Kelly painting by Dominic Milmo-Penny.
