In December 2011 the National Museum of Ireland (NMI) was fortunate to acquire an extensive collection (over 180 objects) of Irish 18th and 19th century glass from Kenneth Tughan, the Co Down-based collector. He had started to acquire material for this exceptionally high quality and significant Irish glass collection from the 1970s and he eventually amassed one of the finest private collections of Irish glass on this island.
